Dodge and Nobile Win in Houston

Second-generation racer Vincent Nobile picked up Dodge’s second Pro Stock victory of the season at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Spring Nationals in Houston.

Now in just his second season in competition, the 19-year old took his first NHRA national event win at Houston last year, following it with two more wins at Phoenix and Norwalk. At Las Vegas earlier this year, Nobile advanced his Dodge Avenger to the final round only to be turned away by fellow Dodge racer Allen Johnson.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” said Nobile of winning the Houston race two years in a row.  ”In the semis, we actually had to swap motors in that short amount of time and the crew did it with no flaws and everything was perfect. The crew produces a really fast race car. I owe it to all of them. My dad taught me everything I know about driving a race car and drag racing, period.”

Nobile drives a Dodge Avenger constructed by Jerry Haas Race Cars with engines by J&J Racing. Crew members include Vincent’s dad, John Nobile, and Nick Mitsos, who doubles as team owner and crew chief. With the Houston win, Nobile advances from fifth to third in the 2012 points standings. Dodge now has two Pro Stock victories in the first six events of the 23-race 2012 NHRA season.
