Dodge Prepares To Hit The HEMI Highway

Election season may now be over, but there are still two candidates eager to win your support. And like any good politician, Dodge is hitting the campaign trail in order to “rile up its base.”

With so much new hardware coming in 2011, we thought the best way to get our fans pumped up was to bring two new cars directly to them.

Starting November 15, 2010, Dodge will embark on a cross country road show featuring the new 2011 Charger R/T and Challenger SRT8 392. Coined the Hemi Highway Tour, both cars, driving together, will visit a wide range of spots including select Dodge Dealerships, Mopar clubs, tuner shops, cars shows, and beyond.

Long time Dodge Representatives, Heather Heughens and Scott Vandekerckhove, will be behind the wheel of the Hemi powered duo.

This is a chance for fans everywhere to come see two of our most prized muscle cars before they ever go up for sale.

At the same time, this is a great opportunity for Dodge to connect with its most devout enthusiasts. We want to see your cars and hear your stories. So come on out and show us what you got. We’ll be blogging and posting pictures all along the near 8, 000 mile route.

Make sure to check the schedule to see when we’re in your area. And park it right here on to see all our stories from the road!

I hope you are stopping in Alabama. We’ve got a large MOPAR club in Birmingham (the Birmingham Mopar Owners Club) and a large CJD dealership we’re associated with, Landers McClarty. We’d love to promote the tour stop here, and I’m sure LM would promote the event, too. At any rate, our club would love to be at a nearby tour stop, even if it means a cruise to Atlanta (thinking Landmark must surely be on the stop). You should also consider Caffiene and Octane on December 5th in Atlanta, one of the larger cruise in’s in the Atlanta area that happens on Sunday mornings, 8-11 AM in Marietta. That could dovetail nicely with any promotional stop at Landmark in Atlanta.

The R/T Charger needs some fine red accents in the grille or something. It just looks like a big black hole, like someone with their mouth open. The SEMA car looks a lot better. Needs a bigger front airdam/spoiler/splitter, etc. The ducktail spoiler looks better as well.

It was 6:00 am on a foggy Friday morning when I spotted Scott filling up the Challenger at local gas station. The car was amazing and he was very polite and let me snap some pictures.

Heather was there , the two where driving up to the Walter P. Chrysler muesem .

Besides Heathers beauty the fact that the Challenger was a manual transmission put a HUGE smile on my face !!

Sorry I’m just not excited about The new Charger. I realize it’s supposed to be more retro than the ’06-’10 models. But I’m just not feeling this redesign. BTW, I have a ’06 Go Mango Daytona that I just love.

I like the the “1st generation” LX Chargers but I think that this refresh offers a ton more “Dodge attitude”. The tail lights are a brilliant addition and the more-aggressive front end and the new side line really made a nice difference. They couldnt rely on the first generation LX charger forever, and this new model is, in my opinion, an excellent refresh. Great Job Chrysler!

Where’s the schedule already?! If I’m going to have to travel I need to know dates/places, so I can start planning! Had an 07 Charger, I personally thought it was a great car. I love the Challenger, and can’t wait to see the 392! I don’t suppose you’ll be offering rides will you? 😉

Wow, I didn’t notice that the whole body of the charger got redesigned. I Thought it was just the taillights and front end. It looks more agressive like a Dodge should. Did the grill get shrunken down and stretched out? It Kinda looks like it has a pissed off face. I’d still like to see a Charger with the old [———-] Not a (–+–) Just doesn’t have that Charger look without it. Tho it does look like a 66 or a 67.

This post shows the tour starts on the 15th. The interactive map post showed the15th in one spot and the 14th in another – but has been corrected to show the 14th.
Still some confusion here. Does it start at the Walter P. Chrysler Museum on the 14th or 15th?

To clarify, the kickoff for the event started on the 14th, yet the tour begins today on the 15th. We hope that helps.

Dave/REDDOG, yea I get to see (and play in) these cars every day, but I still took the 4 hour drive just to see the kick-off of the tour. Make sure you get a good crowd of you SoCal LXers and LCers out to meet Scott and Heather……and get ready to trade up to the 392 😉
    Hopefully see you at SF6.
