Romanian long-distance runner and Olympic champion Constantina Di?? is no stranger to endurance running, or any of the great physical sacrifices that go along with it. After snagging the title of World Half Marathon Champion at the World Championships in 2005, Dita continued to demonstrate her mastery of the sport with a silver medal finish at the IAAF World Road Running Championships and a commendable third place finish at the 2007 London Marathon. The following year, Dita logged yet another noteworthy achievement at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, where she finished the women’s marathon in a record 2 hours, 26 minutes and 44 second. The amazing feat earned her the title as the oldest Olympic marathon winner in the history of the games at 38 years of age.
In 2010 she’s still pounding the pavement and preparing to run toe-to-toe with our very own team at the Dodge Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in Virginia Beach, VA. To psych herself and her fellow competitors up for the big day, Dita recorded a few words of encouragement at the Dodge booth at the runner’s Expo inside the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Check out the video above to hear Dita’s pep talk, and amble on over to the race start line bright and early this morning to watch hundreds of other videos of friends and family cheering for all the dedicated runners.
