As I worked my way west with the 2015 Challenger R/T Scat Pack, the mother road beckoned stops. In Texas, I found a vintage-car graveyard, complete with Mopars from the era of tail fins and chrome excess; somewhat hauntingly, it reminded me I was following paths blazed long ago. Old Route 66 and US40 intersect and become one in some locations, and with a chill in the air, I stopped off at a legendary steakhouse near Amarillo. As a certified, dyed-in-the-wool car fanatic, I love to drive. Anywhere. And it’s not just about the excitement and fun of sliding behind the wheel of that magical Blue Streak Pearl Challenger of mine, but the possible encounters I’ll have along the way. Oftentimes, it’s a stoplight conversation, which usually starts with “’Nice car! How do you like it?” at which point I express my love for the car and encourage my new friend to test-drive one.
