HEMI Orange Challenger and Super Track Pak Now Available

You’ve clamored for it, so we acted. Here’s another color update for all you Challenger fans: Classic HEMI Orange paint is now available again for order on the R/T and SRT8 Challengers — and for R/T Classic Models, an added option of white dual wide side stripes.

But Challenger isn’t just about bringing back our best classic colors, it’s also about performance. So we’ve also brought back the Super Track Pak from the 1970s, adding in performance steering and brakes, three-season Goodyear F1 Tires, load-leveling shocks, and full-off ESP — on the five-speed automatic as well as the six-speed manual transmission. The end result, for anyone not familiar with the Super Track Pak: Your Challenger will now get around the track even quicker. Who can argue with that?

Sorry folks they won’t …. my dealer ( the sales person ) lied and said yes to the 3.73:1 gears … even After I got the car I inquired about the gears and I was told that they are not listed on the option sheet but should be there …. now that we found out after the fact that the gears only come with the six speed ….my dealer denies any wrong doing… I do not understand why Doge does not step up to the plate and do right by me …. the Canadian Government does own %2 of the company ( since they needed bail out money)…so I hope they fire all of the Doge customer support…. A big company like Doge should of done right by me ! that is all that would have taken to make me a happy customer…. What is the point of spending so much money in Advertising the vehicles ….. if this is what you do to when the customers come, Apparently I am a “loser” !
Any ways I am selling my car and buying $hit boxes to drive around from now on …. If the Automotive industry goes belly up …. they “have a sales issue” … No body at Doge is willing to lift a finger for me , instead they want me to buy the gears from them my self and void my warranty …. This kinda of selfish behavior has affected the housing market in the towns were this plants are closed … last 2 years the GM plant in Oshawa Ontario (20 minutes drive from my house ) has closed shifts and the housing markets when down hill and they had to file for bankruptcy… I was looking for houses there last summer , and there were too many sheriffs evictions notices on empty home’s doors ( bank fore closed homes ) …. the same was true of Brampton and Windsor Ontario ( were the customer center that I call is )…. You figure that the next time I see them begging for their lost jobs on TV …I will call the TV station or take the drive there my self to remind them of me….

Doge stating that Dealers are independently owned and operated and that they can not do anything about what the dealers say and do to sell a car is unacceptable ….

@ IndyRider you are right about coming here and reading good reviews …. people should come here and read good post … this could have been avoided and Doge could have had a guy like me posting how great this car is … instead I can’t

P.S. everything I have posted is true…. I posted the dealers number up there (416-321-2201) and I am the only guy that bought a 2010 Orange with white stripes car If any body from doge thinks that they can help fix this you can always get my info from there and fix my 3.73:1 issue and make me a happy customer, I would be whiling to drive the car up to the Brampton Assembly Plant to have the gear put in !!!

I hope you can help 🙁

We would like to have the opportunity to directly address the concern you have with your Challenger. Could you please provide your contact information and, if available, your Vehicle Identification Number via the “contact us” link? A Top Care representative from Dodge Customer Care will then contact you.

The vehicle’s identification number (VIN) can be located on your vehicle’s driver side dash viewable through the windshield, or you can locate the VIN from the insurance card or state registration.

Thank you and we look forward to hearing from you.

Thanks I will try that…. I contacted and saw another dealer ship and they contacted the Doge rep and it is a “no go” ….. I am not sure what good contacting a doge representative with the VIN since I have done that for about 10 days straight …. the answer was If the dealer told me the car comes with 3.73:1 gear just to sell me the car it is not their problem! the automatic comes with the 3.06 Period…. I found this out after about 2 weeks of having the car …. I spoke to my dealership again today and as usual after I came up with a $20,000.00 down payment they think that I am made of money and can go a head and buy my gear and void my warranty …( I was told that it wont by my dealer as long as I service the car there only , but doge told me it would !so I asked for it in writing, and they are sketchy about doing it…. probably wont since the owner of the dealer ship says he wont )

So I am back to square one pay for my own gears and void the warranty…. this sales man should be fired…. the SOB owner tells me he can not absorb the cost of the gear …In fact I need to pay for it in advance too…. unless A Top Care representative from Dodge Customer Care will put my gear in there is not much that they can do … I contacted the American side too and they and the car comes with 3.06 in automatic the dealer should not have lied… YOU DO NOT JUST SAY YES YES YES TO SELL A CAR

here is my Vin # 2B3CJ5DT6AH215943 I will also contact you with Vin and number through contact us

    I contacted RLD with this:

    Cut & Paste :

with regards to my challenger problem here is my Vin # 2B3CJ5DT6AH215943and telephone number is *-***-***-**** ( I gave them the real number in private LOL)

As far as I can tell my dealer lied to me and told me every thing that I wanted to here so I was told that he would get me a 3.73:1 gear with the automatic….that is what made me by the car…. I guess he wanted my $20,000.00 down payment …. the dealership owners ( they have 2, mike and dan ) told me that they can not absorb a $1725.00 cost …mike told me today ( I spoke to him around 8pm tonight may 10 2010 ) that it wont affect the warranty but was not that keen in providing it in writing .Dan says it will void the warranty …but mike said what does Dan know? I spoke to a representative from customer care and offered to drive the car to were it was built in Brampton Ontario to have the gears put there, but that was a big NO! Please read this article http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2009/05/01/chrysler-factories.html about the bail out my government gave Doge Chrysler…. the plant were my car was built was shut down …. this is why, customers get screwed and just do not buy again! I went out and bought T-shirts, hats , jackets, bags from Mopar and the Orange engine cover to match my car all about under a $1000.00 and my dealer can not absorb $1725.00 for his mistake ( and Ted & Leigh still have their job their) this is why plants close down … All my dealer could have done is put my gears in and say I am sorry…. but not this cheap piece of crap …. I contacted the Brampton plant but got as far as the security office …..

I you think you can help?

Alexander, I know you are pi$$ed about the way the salesmen treated you at the dealership and I feel the same way with the lying SOB salemen at the dealership that I purchased my car, however, there may be a reason why the 3:73 gears work better with the stick than the auto. I know I have swapped out gears on my road runners many a times and if you get too tall a gear the car falls flat off the line so you have to put a higher lift cam and stall converter to compensate. What I am trying to say is that you may have to change a bunch of things and reprogram the computer, etc. so you better ask the SRT engineers if it is a good combination. Your best bet next time is to find one on the lot you can live with that has been sitting for awhile so you can dicker with the slime balls. Dodge dealer salesmen are the worst and they are the major reason why their sales have plummeted. There are so few Dodge dealers that have honest sales people that make you feel good after the sale. They only think short term, that immediate sale and don’t care about repeat business because they will probably be working for another dealer in a few years. You got a nice color combination that is going to be really rare so just enjoy the car. My car was really slow when I got it so I broke it in like the owners manual said and it is getting faster by the day. Again, ask RLD if you can put the exhaust system on without voiding your warranty and what else you can do. Then you will have it in writing and you don’t have to worry about what your dealer has to say. Again, I know you are mad, but that is such a sharp looking car that I would hate to race it and ruin it. You got a nice new car, just enjoy it. I know everywhere I go somebody stares at my car or compliments me on it. Mopars get faster the older they get. The motors are put together really tight unlike Fords and Chevys. Just give it time and see if RLD will let you put the exhaust on it. Good luck and hopefully things will work out for you.

LOL I spoke to the customer support service this morning ( I called) and got the same answer ….

@ SUBLIME the gear ratio would not be offered in the car if it did not work …. the same engine in the 6 speed has the same cam as in the auto so that is just silly ….. the only reason they offer a 3.73 and 3.91 with a stick is that they think that people who want to shift gears want performance and automatic drivers don’t …. I thought that they had their act together with a semi automatic transmission, they sold me a crap car ….As for the SRT engineers…. what Idiot puts a 3.06 gear in a muscle car????? come on….. this car is a disgrace driving this piece of crap wont make it faster with time unless you put a good gear in it …… It has gone up for sale !!! buying this was a mistake….

    cya folks

    By Evan #3, Posted: 9/19/2009

Whats with that 3.06 rear? Thats not a performance rear at all and they’re trying to play it off like its this big “super track pack” feature
“yeah i wanna race my SRT challenger hard on the track! But im concerned about my gas mileage” =D
….what?? Buy an SE for fuel economy, buy an SRT for brute power! Stop kidding us and give us a rear end thats worth a damn

LMAO So it looks like the dealer lied to sell the car and the idiot engineers are to blame I bought a $52 000.00 mini van 🙁

    Posted May 11, 2010 at 5:37 pm | Permalink

Alexander, what I am trying to say is that the 5 speed automatic has one less gear than the 6 speed manual so it would probably run too high an RPM on the highway if they didn’t put a smaller gear. But, that is a little too small. A 3:55 or 3:23 was the smallest gear that they put in the 3 speed torqueflite automatics back in the good old days. I guess the 3:06 should give it a 200 mph top end, but if it takes you 10 minutes to get there than whats the point. I am surprised you didn’t buy a 6 speed SRT in the first place if you wanted to go fast. Just sell it and get an old HEMI Dart. My buddy has one that runs an 8 second quarter mile. It cost him $15 grand to build it.

Alexander, if you read this let us know what you bought after selling your challenger. And if he does not return then we well have to guess that he meant what he said and got rid of his car. To bad this could not be fixed as he well tell as many people as he can that you know who sucks.

Alexander, sorry things are not working out, but I would still continue to try to work with the Dodge Customer Care Rep. Why am I saying this, you might ask.

Let me share my recent customer service experience, involving my 2010 SRT8. I bought the car from an out of town dealer (3+ hours away). I did a complete walkthrough of the car, before buying and driving away. Next morning I go into the garage to admire the car, and wipe off the road dust from the drive.

On closer inspection, I notice a hairline crack in the windwhield, up near the part where it meets the sill, and roofline. Talk about demoralized, the car had less than 300 miles, and I’m thinking no way this falls under warranty, plus I cannot take the time to go back to the dealer of purchase anytime soon. Cue sinking feeling in stomach, and blinding headache, as close to $50k is now looking like bad news.

I take the car to the local Dodge dealer, who I previously avoided for a purchase, due to what I felt were sketchy sales personnel within.

My reasoning for this move instead of the drive down south, was that if I took a chance driving it back to the selling dealer, I might end up with more damage, and more wiggle room….

I meet with Jeff L. in service who looks at the crack, and says he will get right on it. Next thing I know (within one day), a dodge rep has examined the crack, authorized a replacement windshield under warranty, no cost to me.

In the interim, Jeff was top notch in taking care of installing my mopar bucks parts, and being a cool person to work with. The point I’m making is that for every bad apple there is a good one, in my case folks who represent Dodge.

I truly feel bad about your situation, and hope someone in Dodge can help you similar to me and my situation. I thought I was going to collapse in the garage and basically disappear after my initial experience. I know the eventual ding, scratch, etc. will show up, but at least it has been prolonged for awhile.

For what its worth, I held off on posting my experience, until it ended in resolution. I had faith Dodge would help me out, and they came through for me. Total time from drama to good times was a little over 4 weeks.

I see this as no ones fault but your own. Just like people getting mad AFTER they bought an iPod or iPhone when they found that you can’t swap out the battery yourself. Do your homework BEFORE buying, not after. You get no sympathy from me. You buy something without knowing exactly what you are getting, and then blame the seller. Classic cluelessness.

And Sublime has very valid points. Sure the 6speed has the same engine, and has the 373 gear… but the gear ratios in the transmission are different as well. You need to be looking at the final drive ratio of first gear, not just the rear end. With the 373 you will be turning higher RPMs in every gear for a given speed.

If all you want is to get off the line quicker, there are other ways to do that that won’t sacrifice top end or cruising speed. And many autos are getting better 1/4 mile times than the manuals anyway.

My next step is a supercharger which is about $7000.00 – $8000.00 Installed ( complete kits are about $6000 )

Is that what you are talking about Dave????

Without a proper gear I am still screwed … I bought a 3.73 gear too but it has still to go in….

@IndyRider – not a drag car that is just funny ….. I would not buy new car for that …. just the new 2011 mustangs are under rated at 420 BHP than you can go up to the cobra model , and even further the shellby GT 500 which comes super charged already…… I want to be proud of my car, without the mustang guys laughing at me !!! The dealer shoiuld not have lied to me about the gear that’s All !!!! I am out of pocket about $3000.00 for a conversion!!!! that is not fair …All OEM Mopar parts too!!!!!

Have not had the chance to install it yet….. I was at that dealership for some service and I came out with vibrating noise on the back of the car….. yea quality service!!!! so I am holding off on doing those for now ….. I think I might pay a mechanic to tell me what that noise is….. Were do these punks get hired from as mechanics …. As far as I am concerned they are ball washers ( toilet cleaners )

First week that I had the car from the factory I got a check engine light…. there was not enough transmission fluid in there!!!!

So I am going to hold off on stuff like that for now….. I do not trust the dealer ship were I bought my car….. freak-en ball washers…..

I met this lady the day that I was there, that was flipping out because her wheel almost came off after she had the snow tire off… ( second time this happened) …. she has wheel locks on her car and they tried to tell her that they did not forget to tighten her wheel lugs….. somebody must of done it……

@ SUBLIME ….So I finally will shut up about that gear, just got it in and the car runs like it was made for it LOL 🙂

Also unfortunately the “ECO” ( the MDS ) remains the same the 3.73 gear did not effect that at all…. you have to drive the car in stick mode to get rid of that unless you want to use the programmer to delete it……

    Posted June 30, 2010 at 10:09 pm | Permalink

Alexander, is it a lot of trouble installing the gear? Do you have to shim it like a Dana or can you just slide out the axles an inch, switch out the ring and pinion like the 8 3/4 rear ends. I love the 8 3/4 rear ends because you can switch out the pumpkins (rear end assembly) so easily. We used to switch them out between runs at the drag strip until we found the right set up and dialed it in with no bog. I used to get them in the junk yard for $50 a piece. I still have a 3.23, 3.55, 3.91, and a 4.11. My original Dana 60 sits in the garage because it is so heavy and a pain in the a$$ to shim the gears. I broke a tooth and it has sat there for 27 years. Its the original rear end so I better keep it and replace the ring gear. By the way, Is the gas mileage about the same on your Challenger and does the econo mode (MDS) get any louder or jerkier? Do you lose the bog off the line with the 3.73s? Let me know after a few fill ups if you still like them and if you lose much on the highway (gas miileage and do you increase the RPM much)? Thanks, and have fun with it.

@SUBLIME these gears are offered from Doge for the 2010 challenger but they do not put them in to the automatic only the stick R/T all I did was buy a challenger 2010 3.73 rear end , axles, hubs, and the longer bolt to hold the 3.73’s in place and pop out the 3.06 rear and , axles, and hubs out and replaced them ( YOU NEED TO REPROGRAM THE CAR!!! ) LOL a diablo programmer does it in 5 seconds for you ….

I should sue doge for letting me drive a round with a set of 3.06’s for this long!!! This woke the car right up…. it is the difference between driving a Pontiac Sun fire and a Corvette ….
my car also got a little mods and I am getting around 438 BHP about 347 at the rear wheels on a dyno…. Now I do not fear the mustangs pulling up next to me!!!

Hi Alexander, I am glad you got your car running like it should. Mine kept dying in the heat wave that we have been having (over 100 for the last month). It would die when I would turn right into a parking lot or onto another road after going about 55 from a county road. A semi almost plowed into it one day so I ordered the Diablo Predator tuner that night that HEMIhead recommended. I just set it to the regular unleaded gas mode with the harder shift and it runs like it should from the factory. It doesn’t shift into 5th gear at 30 anymore and bog like a pig. If Dodge used these to tune the computers on their Challengers and Chargers, they would sell a boat load of cars. It still shifts smooth when you’re just cruizin it and it even gets better gas mileage. When you stomp on it at any speed it automatically downshifts and runs great (no bog). I then tried it on th 93 CAI mode and you barely have to touch the gas pedal to drive around town. I am just baffled why Dodge doesn’t tune the cars correctly from the factory. You would think they would test their cars before they sell them. Maybe they think it will keep the motors together longer for the 5 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. They are just too detuned from the factory to impress anyone. I guess they want you to buy an SRT8, but that is another 10 grand down the drain and you get worse gas mileage. $300 for the tuner vs. 10 grand for the SRT8? Tough decision. Don’t get me wrong, the SRT8 is a blast to drive, however, I have to drive my Challenger everyday to work and the MDS really helps with the gas mileage. Anyhow, the car doesn’t die anymore and it runs great with better gas mileage. I couldn’t download your pictures, but I bet it looks nice. Don’t spend too much money on it so you will have some money left over to buy one of the new ones in a few years that will have a 426 HEMI with MDS. Take care!

Sublime, I knew you’d like the tuner. It’s the best mod you can buy hands down. Really woke
my car up and allowed me to modify a lot of things. Mopar should have it listed in the catalogue. I got mine from Arringtons, and we all know they know HEMIs. Have fun with it.
Wish I could get my car to a dyno and get a custom tune for it, they say they can really dial
    it in for you.

@ SUBLIME I have no Idea why you could not download my pictures everybody can…..

If your car still over heats you can change the radiator thermostat with a 180 degrees one and turn the fans on sooner with the Diablo….. I also think that Doge tunes the cars the way they do so they can meet Emission and fuel economy…. Please see my pictures so you can get an idea of the cold air kit that I got on….
you can put: Cold air Kit, shorty SRT8 headers, a cat back system and a dyno tune using the Diablo and you are easily at 430-440 BHP …… Please check out the new roots style super charger for the R/T’s

I will definitely post some pictures and maybe a video once I have my super charger on….. next month…… 🙂

Alexander, I turned down my overkill virus protection and it let me download the files. It looks great. I couldn’t find a spec of dirt on it. Does the exhaust system make it too loud and does it void the warranty? What are the horsepower specs on the blower? I am surprised Dodge doesn’t offer a special edition Blown SRT8. Everyone else is using superchargers, why can’t they? You go too fast and you may get some dust on your Challenger. It looks too good to drive.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RxHpMta_2o ( I have an extra set for sale )

here is their home page :

As for the super charger it adds 120 RWHP ( to the wheels ) or 150 BRHP ( to the engine ) so add 150 to 372 ( for an automatic ) and that is 522 HP car or 525 hp car for the Standard …..

It rained today so next week it is another 6-8 hours detailing it LOL

The installer sent me this photo when they just finished installing my supercharger on Friday …I have not even had a chance to pick up my car yet it still need to go on the dyno for a fuel / air ratio….

more images and a video to come…

Alexander, you are going to have to tub that car and run slicks on it so you can get some traction. That is going to be a beast. Let us know what you think when you get it back.

@ SUBLIME I am looking for E/T Street slicks for it now… Micky Thomson did make a 20″ for a while but they stopped 🙁 dunno why?) I had them on a Camaro and they hooked great!!! so I am looking for a street legal slick , and there is no need to tub the car either…..

P.S. I got the pictures Friday but we can not get the dyno until Monday, If all goes good with the Air/ Fuel ratio…. than I should get the car back tomorrow …. I will post a video later since I would like to stick the “S/C” ( super charged ) badge on it first….

I will keep you guys and gals posted 🙂

@SUBLIME I can not stop Smiling…. you have to get a supercharger …and their tuner is fantastic so any problem with tuning this thing and he will e mail you a new tune while on the dyno…his name is Drew (Andrew) he is the guy for the Challengers….. I uploaded more of the install pictures in that previous link that I gave you …here it is again http://s1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee512/madmadona/Magnacharger%20Intercooled%20Supercharger/

I Added my Dyno numbers…. gonna go back since I added more fuel and a less humid day …we should be at that 575 to the motor…. ( I am getting a 95mm throttle body and cold air kit ..should be over 600 BHP ….in the future…. ) …Keep in mind that the dyno number are to the rear wheel…you need to multiply…

Here is me and my ride… and “Supercharged” badges on the car…. http://s1231.photobucket.com/albums/ee512/madmadona/MySuperchargedHemi%20and%20me/

By the way MOPAR need to push tire manufacturers for a street slick Mickey Thomson has a “ET drag radial II ” but it only goes up tp the 18″ wheel the challenger comes with a 20″ rim…

I NEED A SLICK!!! so “NITO” makes one …. 6-8 weeks back order…. this car needs a slick to get hooked…. BOY the fun this is with a supercharger…. I will post a video in the near future …..

    Enjoy the pictures 🙂

Alexander, would it kill you to spell DODGE correctly just once?

So does the car smokem up until you let off the gas. Have you had a chance to run a new Shelby Mustang? Can anybody beat you with the supercharger? Does the motor still get good gas mileage when you cruise it. Car looks sharp! Take care.

@ SUBLIME …. I had to get Nitto Drag redials , otherwise it would do that ( I did smoke them)

The whole point is to hook the tires , so after a lot of money later:

    All that 575 BHP hook 🙂 🙂 🙂

and no Most people know of my car , so for some odd reason the new camaro turned right at the light when he saw me come to the lights in his rear view… So only one race against some turbo charged import …. I sent it back to japan LOL

    I added a cold airkit:

I am thinking of swaping out the motor to a 426 3rd gen hemi or a 440 hemi than supercharge it 🙂

Ohh what is this gas mileage you speak of?
