Style, Value, Performance: Dodge Avenger

Dodge Avenger

Dodge calls the 2013 Avenger “America’s most affordable and most powerful mid-size car.” All three models are packed with value—just pick the one that fits you best.

Let’s start with the Avenger SE—low in price yet offering an impressive list of standard equipment: 2.4-liter 173-horsepower four-cylinder engine, premium soft-touch interior, four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, LED taillamps, keyless entry, air conditioning, four-speaker CD audio and much more. Dodge backs up this complete package with a limited five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.

Now add the optional world-class 3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine with 283 horsepower to this stellar machine and you get both the most affordable mid-size V6 sedan in America and the most powerful car in the class. The V6 also includes a six-speed automatic transmission and dual exhausts with bright metal trim. Other available extras on the SE include SiriusXM satellite radio, Uconnect Voice Command with Bluetooth connectivity and the Blacktop Package or Rallye Appearance Group.

Looking for a little more luxury? Check out the SXT, with all the equipment of the SE plus six-speed automatic transmission with Auto Stick shifter, automatic headlamps, eight-way power driver seat, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, fog lamps, automatic temperature control, heated exterior mirrors and more. SXT buyers can select from either the economical 173 horsepower 2.4L I4 or the 283 hp Pentastar V6, which is coupled with either the Blacktop Package or the Rallye Appearance Group. Leather seating is available for only $400 MSRP, a 50% discount, when ordered with either the Rallye or Blacktop packages.

The ultimate Avenger is the R/T. Here the class-leading Pentastar V6 is standard, along with a long list of exclusive exterior, interior and performance features too extensive to list. However, we couldn’t go without mentioning the signature R/T badging, the Z-stripe seats with red stitching, or the performance-tuned suspension. For the full rundown of standard R/T equipment and all the other great Avenger choices available, including Dodge’s famed Blacktop Package, visit your local Dodge dealer or visit

You cannot beat this car for the money. I wish they would put a hood scoop on this car and some flat black racing stripes. The Avenger is kicking butt in NHRA funny car so why not make a really fast version. Even let them come in the high impact colors.
