We Can See Your Dodge from Here

Remember how we asked you to submit your favorite photos of your Dodge to our Flickr pool, and said we’d post our favorites to this page? Well, look over to the right. No, down a little… there. Each week we’ll pick out our favorite 20 photos of your automotive baby and post them here for the world to admire in slideshow form. Not enough, you say? You want more recognition for your hours of vigilant waxing? Well, now’s your chance: In the comments below, tell us in 100 words or less why you, of all people, deserve to be profiled on this site as our Dodge Owner of the Week. Be convincing, be devoted, be honest — but above all, be entertaining when you tell us why your Dodge is so important to you. The best story wins RLD immortality.

When I was 8 years old, my neighbor had a Top Banana ’70 Charger R/T. I was SO in love with that car. Then a couple of years later he sold it. When I was in my early 20′s, I was working for him. He told me my new co-worker owns my old Charger. I asked if he would sell it, the answer was a stern NO! About ten years later I got a phone call. OK, he said, $2000 and it’s yours. And it was! It has 107K original miles but needs a FULL resto. It’s a true R/T with a 440 and 727. On the road soon.

I was home from college in 2004 and my family and I were going camping in sw PA. On the way, I saw a gorgeous ’69 dart swinger for sale that I really wanted to check out. My dad was skeptical, but we stopped. The body was rough, but the power train was great. 3 weeks later, I got the best 21st birthday gift of my life. We did an at home driveway/garage resto, and the addiction began. I graduated college in ’06 and saw the Challenger concept in person at Carlisle, Pa. I committed to owning the very first year they came out. 2 years later and a deployment to Iraq to help pay for it, and I’ve got an ’08 hemi Orange SRT8 Challenger; #0990.
3.5 years later and a promotion, I bought the best truck ever on the market; ’09 Ram 1500 5.7 hemi quad cab. Life is good; in a Dodge of course!

Where to begin, born third generation Chrysler dealer grew up with the classics dad had a ’68 Dodge Dart GTS convertible, ’71 Cuda AAR, ’39 Desoto, ’79 Lil Red Express… My dad used to pick me up and drop me off at school when I was a young lad. Towards the end of middle school it evolved to Prowlers and Viper R/T 10′s, man the 90s were cool. By high school he not only let me take the Lil Red Express for a month, one cold winter I took his big ol’ yellow ’66 Chrysler Windsor Convertible to school top down all the way… everyone flipped their lid when saw me roll up. Fast forward to the SRT division, by the time I got my license I had the privilege of driving an ’05 RAM SRT10 6 SPD, an ’07 300C SRT8..MAGNUM SRT8, and Charger SRT8!!! I became one with these vehicles but the only thing I thought was missing was that 6th gear and manual transmission! Thankfully my prayers were answered when the ’09 Challenger came out! I followed this car from its introduction at the 06 Detroit Auto Show, staring at it for hours while people compared it to the Camaro. Fast forward to Barrett-Jackson when Craig Jackson bought the 001 for $400,000 I watched it Live in Barrie at a Barrett-Jackson Party. Then I drove six hours in February to see its unveiling in Chicago, met some great people there who became Challenger owners themselves. I knew I had to have this car! When I heard that 09 would have the 6 spd I was elated.I had to have one…. one set back I was still in college, I graduated and got a job with Chrysler Canada and I was able to get a B5 Blue 6 speed SRT8 this past July, in fact, it was built on Canada Day in Brampton (it was the first B5 six speed built that day)! I’m proud to say that I get to work for the company and help build the car I’m proud to call my own! Lovin’ being a CHALLENGER SRT8 Owner! Can’t wait for the summer!! pics can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/45424471@N05/

Love reading your stories–keep ‘em coming!

My story will begin the minute sublime is offered on the challenger. Otherwise I’m just writing the forward notes on how many times I posted up on red letter asking for sublime on the challenger.

    Let’s do this!!!!

  • coolmancool

The spring edition Detonator Yellow? Almost winter and still a no show. Plum Crazy will probably show up in the summer if we are lucky or probably on the 2011 models. Sublime will probably show up another year later. Snails work at a faster pace. How can a company react so slowly and still stay in business? That’s right, they didn’t. This is now the new Chrysler, however, it looks the same to me. That’s right, sublime is an obscure color that nobody likes…just look at the Question of the Week polls we have. Well at least I will be able to pay cash for the car by the time it comes out. Heck, I will be able to purchase a Viper ACR-X.

Checked my email this morning, and I see something from Chrysler. I’m thinking, YES, they are going to announce sublime as an option on the challenger.

Open up the email, and its from an employee announcing their out of office schedule.

I’m flattered I made someone’s contact list within the confines of the mighty giant, but I sure was expecting a tidbit on the challenger. Kind of like coal in the stocking, yet I’ve been good this year, putting back the pennies, hoping to buy my dream car.

CMC is spot on, check the question of the week.

By the time green is announced, Big engines will be outlawed, and I’ll be stuck riding my green bicycle, going “vroom vroom” down the street.

Mark Mallie posted on another thread:
“Indyrider/CMC we appreciate your patience. From your perspective it might seem like an easy change – just add the damn paint! Things are never that easy as you know from your professional life…
We have been managing paint on Challenger adding as many colors as the plant can handle. For 2010 Model Year in addition to the 10 standard paints at the plant and any special paints for Charger Police Cars, we have built B5 Blue, Detonator Yellow, Plum Crazy is just beginning, Hemi Orange is coming back in 1st Quarter 2010, and one more new color to be announced soon. This color is not Sublime. Green is in our future, we are hoping to do something in the 2010 Calendar Year.
We promise we’ll let you know here on this blog as new Challenger content and colors come to life. If you have further questions, please click “contact us” at the bottom of the page and drop us a line directly. Thank you for your longtime support of Dodge.”
