The North American International Auto Show, held each January at Cobo Center in Detroit, is the largest new car show in America and arguably the most important event of its kind in the world. Naturally, Dodge has been a key part of the show throughout its history.
The 14-day event begins on January 13, 2014, with a two-day preview held exclusively for the international news media, followed by another two preview days for auto industry personnel and a one-day show just for charity. The show opens to the general public on January 18 for nine full days, and it’s one of the Motor City’s leading spectator events. More than 795, 000 visitors passed through the doors last year to check out all the latest products from the world’s automakers.
More impressive statistics: In 2013, more than 5, 000 journalists from 62 countries came to see 71 new-model introductions. And since 1976, the show’s annual charity preview events have raised more than $91 million for children’s charities throughout Southeast Michigan.
As always, Dodge will be a major presence on the show floor at Cobo Center alongside the Ram Trucks, Chrysler, Jeep® and FIAT® brands.. There’s always plenty to see here. Mopar®, the Chrysler Group’s performance and accessory brand, will have a big new Mopar Custom Shop display covering 5, 500 square feet. And Dodge will be showing off the hot new 2014 Dodge Dart Blacktop Edition, announced just days before the show.
Over the years, countless Dodge production vehicles and concepts have made their official debuts at the Detroit show. Highlights in recent years include the Dodge Grand Caravan, Dodge Caliber and Dodge Challenger, to name just a few of the memorable machines.
