For the second time in three years, the Dodge Durango has been named the Full-Size SUV of Texas at the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) Texas Truck Rodeo.
At the 21st annual rodeo on Monday, October 14, more than 40 journalist-members of TAWA cast their votes following two days of both on-road and off-road vehicle evaluations, rating the Durango the best of the Full-Size SUV category. While overall vehicle capability is the key element in the competition, the judges also consider design, utility, value and technology in their scoring.
A full slate of 63 SUVs, crossover vehicles and pickups were entered in this year’s event, with Dodge and its sibling brands Ram and Jeep taking home the top honors in 15 of 24 categories. “The Ram, Jeep and Dodge brands from Chrysler Group clearly impressed our TAWA members at this year’s event,” said Michael Marrs, TAWA president. “There’s no doubt that innovative powertrains, impressive designs and new technologies are paying off for these brands.”
Additionally, Chrysler Group’s innovative Uconnect® driver information and media center, which is offered in the Durango and throughout the Dodge lineup, received TAWA’s Best Connectivity award. In the Durango, an all-new instrument panel for 2014 features a redesigned center stack that houses new 5-inch (standard in the SXT) and 8.4-inch (standard in the Limited, R/T and Citadel and optional in the SXT) Uconnect® touchscreens. The bottom of the center stack houses a media hub with utility jacks, an SD card slot and a USB outlet. To learn more about all the 2014 Durango’s award-winning features, visit Dodge.com.
