Goodbye 2011 – It’s Been a Great Ride

We are heading down the front stretch and the finish line is in sight. As we drop the checkered flag on 2011, I thought this would be great time to look back at all the notable things that occurred during these past 12 months for all of here at Redline Dodge.

 

Fast Times – We launch five totally refreshed vehicles in 2011 that won the hearts and minds of consumers and journalists alike. The numerous awards and accolades bestowed upon us had us going to the home improvement store to build a new trophy case. Most notable was the Charger and Durango that took home the gold in their respective segments from many automotive publications. Our speed junkies also got their fix with the release of the Challenger and Charger SRT8 and its fire breathing 392 HEMI® V8 doing collateral damage to the pavement. However, it was my new found appreciation for versatility of crossovers that really impressed me when I got behind the wheel of a Journey and trekked over 1000 miles one weekend going through the Appalachian Mountains to visit “kin” folk

 

Fast Friends – From the palm tree lined streets of sunny southern California to the green rolling hills and pastures of Pennsylvania, we hit the highway during 2011 to spread the gospel of Redline Dodge. Me and my fellow associates got to meet so many passionate gearheads along the way and bench race while swapping stories of horsepower, traction and finding that illusive 1969 Charger Daytona sitting in a barn somewhere. Our first stop was the LX Spring Fest followed up by string of other shows including Mopars at the Strip, Chryslers at Carlisle , Mopar Nationals, and our own Woodward Dream Cruise. Grabbing gears in a Challenger SRT8 392 along that hallowed avenue was pure nirvana for me. We even had a chance to ride shotgun (virally) with a pair of SRT engineers and their 2011 Challenger SRT8 as the duo blasted their way across the eastern half of the country during the One Lap of America. Finally, we ended our journeys at the annual SEMA show in Vegas last month. I was like a kid in a candy store checking out all the over-the-top show cars and cool “go-fast” parts I’d love to bolt on to my own ride.

 

Fast Five – The Charger hit the silver screen again with the in fifth installment of the Fast & Furious movie franchise. Cinema goers got an  “in your face” look of pure HEMI® V8 power during some intense chase scenes through the streets of Rio de Janeiro that included smoky burnouts, four-wheel drifts and jumps. Kids, don’t try this at home. We even ran a contest in which five lucky fans won their own specially prepared 2011 Charger R/T Fast Five Edition. Hopefully these owners won’t try to copy Vin Diesel’s moves and try to heist a safe full of loot with their F5 Edition Chargers.

 

Just Fast – The NASCAR high bank ovals and NHRA dragstrips saw the Dodge Boys duking it out with other competitors weekend after weekend throughout 2011. When the smoked cleared, Matt Hagan drove his Sears DieHard sponsored Charger Funny Car to a NHRA World Championship title while our roundy round boys – Kurt Busch and Brad Keselowski, came oh-so-close to nabbing the Sprint Cup Championship. Like they say in racing, “there’s always next year”.

 

So now it’s time to wave goodbye to 2011 and head to the garage for a little R&R and a fresh set of tires. We’ll be hitting on all eight when the green flag is dropped in 2012.
