Pastrana and Dodge Reaching New Heights in Texas

Pastrana reached new heights in Texas with the introduction of the 60-foot cross over jump at last weekend’s GRC rallycross event.  The high flying action made for some exciting racing at the “Hoon Kaboom Texas” Global RallyCross Championship event at Texas Motor Speedway. However, Pastrana was locked out of the main event at round two of when he was forced out of the last-chance qualifying race. He led the field through the first lap of the go-or-go-home heat with his Red Bull-liveried Dodge Dart, but spun off into the tire barriers in the turn immediately following the jump.

“It’s just a bummer,” said Pastrana after the all-out charge in the last-chance race fell short. “The key was to get the start that we needed again Ken (Block) and I got the jump on him heading into the first turn.  That put us in great position until I overdrove the hairpin and looped the car.  It’s so hard to pass here and I just wasn’t able to run the three laps I needed in the LCQ (last chance qualifier). Our Red Bull-Discount Tire Dodge was fast all weekend.  We just had some gremlins.”

Pastrana was also joined by Felipe Albuquerque who drove the No. 99 Dodge Dart. Albuquerque placed third in Heat 3 after sliding through the car wash section of the course. In the LCQ Albuquerque got off to a promising start but had to pull off the track for safety reasons as the car ahead of him driven by Bucky Lasek jumped off the side of the cross over jump.

Pastrana is now focused to make a big push at the next GRC event, the Summer X Games in Los Angeles, on June 30-July 1.
