Dodge and SRT Racing for a Cause

A few weeks ago, the high-octane speed freaks from our SRT brand competed in the 10th annual Targa Newfoundland. This Canadian road rally pits man and machine along the beautiful Atlantic coast. The scenic outlooks would make for a nice road trip for a family picnic, but when you’re rolling through the curves at over 100 mph on wet pavement or gravel, it can challenge even the most seasoned drivers.

Our SRT gang wasn’t just there to mix it up with other teams or test caster and camber settings on the front suspension of the 2012 Challenger SRT8. Our guys also raced for a cause and raised $26, 000 in donations for the Autism Society of Newfoundland & Labrador. During this year’s event, they brought an arsenal of horsepower and entered a Dodge Viper SRT10, along with a pair of 392 HEMI® powered Challengers.

Ralph Gilles drove the Viper to a second place finish in the Modern Category while Rob Pacione won the Open Category in slightly modified Challenger SRT8. Rookie George Notaras drove a bone-stock Challenger SRT8 to a respectable ninth place finish in the Grand Touring class.

You can see all the action by going to to check out some great video and photos of this year’s event.

We have a ’96 GTS and it has the INdy Car emblems and was signed by Carroll Shelby (white paint marker “Best Wishes” on one side and his name on the other, near the support column.  Love this car!

Does anyone know how many there are like this out there?  I have tried to contact the Shelby dealership in FL where we got it but have had no response.
